FREE SHIPPING OVER $100 | FREE SHIPPING ON SUBSCRIPTION BOXES
FAQ
Currently, I only ship physical products within the United States.
But that doesn't mean you're out of luck if you're in another country! The Supporter subscription tier is a digital bundle, available internationally. Any digital product can be purchased by anyone!
Subscription boxes and digital bundles go out on the first business day of each month! Digital bundles are delivered instantly on that and physical boxes typically take about 5 days to reach their destination.
When you sign up for this subscription box, you sign up for month after month of insect-filled wonder! Each month, I’ll take care of the billing and automatically send you a new box of buggy joy. Themes vary by month, so each box features different contents designed to expand the brilliant world of insects around you.
- Step 1: You sign up (YAY!)
- Step 2: I send you your first box or digital bundle!
- Step 3: You unbox a new insect experience when it arrives at your front door (or in your inbox!), beginning months or years of entomological delight.
The Entomology Box is currently offered at two different subscription levels:
The Enthusiast is a physical box and costs $55/month with FREE shipping.

Yes! One-time box purchases can be made here.
Each month has a unique theme. Every box sent out that month will have the same theme and contents, although the specific insect species included may vary. Changing up the specific species from box to box ensures I’m not over-taxing the suppliers I work with or contributing to unsustainable sourcing practices.
Right now, I don’t quite have the capacity to customize subscription boxes, but this is certainly a possibility for the future! You can sign up for my newsletter about The Entomology Box at the bottom of this page to receive updates along the way, or you can build your own box in the shop!
The answer to this question will vary from box to box, but most of the time the specimens will be dry and ready for spreading (meaning they are unspread). Sometimes, they may already be spread! This allows you to use them however you’d like, whether that’s for study, for display, for a project, or something else.
Absolutely! Pausing a subscription is a great option if you need a break for any reason, but want to pick back up at some point in the near future. This is a great way to keep any perks you’ve earned over the course of your subscription, like discounts, bonuses, or a specific price point.
Canceling your subscription is also an option if you decide you need to step away in the long term. If you cancel, I really appreciate your feedback on how to improve future boxes, so please consider participating in the cancellation survey!

I work with a variety of insect distributors who prioritize sustainable methods for insect sourcing. All of my suppliers work directly with conservation-focused insect farms. These farms raise insects to adulthood, release some back into the wild to support native populations of the insects, and sell deceased specimens to businesses like mine. Many of these farms were started by local communities or governments in the areas the insects are native to as a way to generate income without having to open the area to tourism or support practices like clearcutting. Overall, this practice helps to conserve rural ecology across these countries, preserving critical habitat for endangered species.
All that said, is this the most ethical way to source insects? Frankly, no. And it’s really important to me that you have this context. It would be more ethical if I could find all of my specimens, naturally deceased, on my own, or buy from people who do this. That wouldn’t quite work for this business model, and so I made the choice to work with the suppliers I do. It’s really important to me that you have the information you need to make your own choice!

Naturalists, Co. is my overall insect education brand, which includes free educational content on social media (@naturalistsco on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube) and other projects. The Entomology Box is one of the projects under Naturalists, Co., and it’s the subscription box that this website is all about. But really, they’re both me, Emily, getting really excited about bugs and the people who love them <3
